FERROTIDE
When the Sea Paints Its Own Condition.

Ferrotide is an artistic practice that invites the living ocean into the work as a co-creator, allowing the hidden life beneath the surface to become visible and part of the artwork. The artproject is about our relationship with nature – stepping away from the centre and opening a dialogue with the sea.

Processes linked to oxygen depletion play an importaint role in shaping the artwork.

Each work begins as a temporary installation on the seabed. It carries the GPS coordinate of its origin, and represents a unique, site-specific process shaped by the local conditions of the sea.

I dive and create compositions using stones, shells, seaweed and canvases on the seabed. I guide the proces, but the bacterial life and conditions of the sea shape the work in ways I cannot fully control. The ocean has become an essential collaborator. There is something special about creating an artwork I cannot see. I return to follow the work as it develops over days and weeks. Only when the canvas is lifted from the seabed does the artwork reveal itself.

Ferrotide is a dialogue between human intention and nature's own processes. A meeting where neither has complete control, and where the ocean leaves its echo in the artwork.
